Michael T. Stone has maintained a defense-oriented civil litigation practice covering a broad range of subject matter in both State and Federal Courts over the past 29 years. A primary focus of Mr. Stone's practice has been insurance-related matters, including coverage opinions and litigation, the defense of first and third party bad faith claims, and the defense of suits identified as potentially involving fraudulent claims against insurers. During these years, Mr. Stone has defended governmental entities, including several Marin County municipalities, and the Marin Municipal Water District, from claims involving allegations of personal injury, property damage and civil rights violations. Other areas of substantial experience include construction defect litigation, the defense of product liability suits, employment-related litigation, class action and other complex litigation.
A long-standing advocate of alternative dispute resolution methods, Mr. Stone serves as a private mediator and arbitrator, as well as a member of the Arbitration Panel for the Marin County Superior Court.
